Scholarships Awarded to Local Students

On July 11, 2019, Jane Swinney and Kathy Braden, board members of Kendall-Grundy Community Action, a division of the Kendall County Health Department, awarded 8 area students with Community Service Block Grant scholarships at its annual scholarship dinner at Maria’s restaurant in Morris, Illinois. The Scholarships are made possible by funding from Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The recipients were chosen on a competitive basis; upon scholarship potential, commitment to civic affairs and career goals. The scholarship awards ranged from $500.00 to $1,375.00.

The scholarship recipients are:

  • Dajanai Lyles of Kendall County- Aurora University for Nursing and Spanish
  • Jori Roysdon of Kendall County- Waubonsee Community College for Nursing
  • Raquel Brady of Kendall County - Waubonsee Community College for Mechanical Engineering
  • Leah Theodor of Kendall County - North Central College for Biology and Environmental Studies
  • Precious Perez of Kendall County - Waubonsee Community College for Graphic Design
  • Alfreen Mushtaheed of Kendall County - University of St. Francis for Biology and
    Pre-med
  • Jalyssa Burton – Waubonsee Community College for Certified Nurses Assistance
  • Aubrey Montano – Northern Central College for Accounting
