The Kendall County Health Department is actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Kendall County. Yesterday, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) confirmed a female in her 60s and a resident of Kendall County, tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19). This resident has no known recent travel history. Currently, IDPH is reporting 160 cases and one death amongst 15 counties in Illinois. Cases have occurred in ages 9 to 91.
It is important to remember that we are still in flu season and take care of yourself to prevent any viral infection. It is advised to wash your hands frequently, avoid interacting with people who are sick and make sure you are up to date on your immunizations. Maintaining social distancing at all times is critical. As stated by Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), “Limiting the amount of time spent in the community, and trying to avoid public transportation as much as possible, will help reduce the number of people who become sick.”
When using cleaning and sanitizing products never mix bleach with ammonia or any other cleaner. When using bleach, use regular unscented 5%-6% household bleach and follow these CDC instructions:
- Clean surface with soap and warm, clean water.
- Rinse with clean water.
- Prepare bleach solution: 5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of water or 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water
- Allow to air dry.
