Heavy Spring Rains

While spring brings the promise of warmer weather, it also brings a variety of conditions that can include heavy rains and severe weather. Spring storms can bring several inches of precipitation in just hours or can stall out over an area for days. These heavy rains can lead to severe flooding by oversaturating the ground, overfilling storm drains, or causing rivers to spill over their banks or levees. During heavy spring rains please consider:

  • Do not drive through rain/flood water
  • Remain vigilant of the weather
  • Know the propensity for flooding in areas in which you travel
  • Prepare for potential impacts of additional rains
  • Never let children swim or play in flooded yards or ditches
