Staying Safe Outdoors

Outdoor recreation is a great idea but we absolutely need to continue to take precautions to prevent bringing COVID-19 back home with us. Everyone must practice safe distancing and good hand hygiene whether indoors or out. Kendall County Health Department is offering tips for staying healthy while enjoying the outdoors:

  • Be prepared to go somewhere else if your destination seems crowded
  • Keep your distance and give others plenty of room
  • Take everything you need with you to avoid unnecessary stops at stores
  • Keep your activities within your comfort and skill level to reduce the risk of injury
  • Leave no trace and take any garbage with you
  • Be prepared, restrooms, play areas, sports courts, and picnic shelters may be closed
  • Notice this is an opportunity for gratefulness, enjoy the fresh air and fresh green

Taking a walk or going for a run outdoors during the COVID-19 pandemic can be a saving grace for your mental and physical health. Be mindful of others while ensuring distancing and other COVID-19 prevention measures outdoors.
