Protect Yourself and Others from COVID-19

With case numbers on the rise in Kendall County, it is important to remember the basic steps to take to prevent spreading COVID-19. Coronavirus is spread mainly from person-to-person – between people who are in close contact (within about 6 feet) with one another; through respiratory dropets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks; and may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.

Everyone should wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.    If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Everyone should avoid close contact with others, especially those who are sick.

Everyone should cover their mouth and nose with a mask when around others. Please remember the mask is not a substitute for social distancing.

Everyone should cover coughs and sneezes, using a tissue or the inside of their elbow, washing their hands afterwards.

Everyone should monitor their health daily, staying alert for symptoms. You should take your temperature if symptoms develop and follow CDC guidance.

Everyone should clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces as well. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
