Have you completed your 2020 Census questionnaire?
The 2020 Census will end September 30, 2020, just two weeks away. Illinois is going to need every federal dollar allocated based on our population as determined by the census for the next ten years. Federal dollars support our schools, social services, hospitals, roads, and other public services. We cannot leave any potential federal funding on the table because our state is under-counted. For public health agencies, census data underscore just about every aspect of work, from research and surveillance to funding levels and policymaking. An inaccurate 2020 count could hinder public health planning efforts, impede work to eliminate disparities, and make it more difficult to respond to novel and emerging public health threats like COVID-19.
You can easily complete the Census while still observing social distancing:
- Online: Visit my2020census.gov and fill out the Census now on your computer, tablet, or smart phone.
- Phone: Call 844-330-2020 to fill out the Census over the phone. The US Census Bureau offers assistance in 59 non-English languages, including American Sign Language.
- Mail: Fill out the Census form received in the mail and return it, free of charge, to the US Census Bureau.
This Census is a nine-question form, takes only a few minutes, but goes a long way in making sure our communities and families have the support and resources needed during these difficult times and for the next ten years. Help Illinois get more funding for the services we need by spreading the word in your organization and your community!
