Outdoor Fall COVID-19 Safety

Visiting apple orchards and pumpkin patches are wonderful fall activities, however it is still important to remember safe social practices to protect yourself and your family.

  • Social distance and limit close contact – maintain a distance of at least 6 feet or more from people you don’t live with.
  • Wear masks – when unable to keep 6 feet of distance.
  • Limit contact with commonly touched surfaces or shared items – clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces and any shared items between use.
  • Wash hands - often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

Visiting pumpkin patches or orchards where people use hand sanitizer before touching pumpkins or picking apples, wearing masks is encouraged or enforced, and people are able to maintain social distancing is considered a moderate risk activity.  A higher risk activity would be going on hayrides or tractor rides with people who are not in your household.
