Disaster Distress helpline

With the uncertainties of the Covid-19 pandemic and isolation that comes with social distancing, many people may be experiencing an increase in stress, loneliness, and anxiety. Left unmanaged, increased stress can lead to difficulties sleeping, unhealthy eating patterns, poor coping skills, and the worsening of some medical and mental health conditions. It is critical that we all manage these feelings in a healthy way so that we can remain well for ourselves and those around us.

The National Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is offering a Disaster Distress Helpline which provides 24/7 crisis counseling for those struggling to navigate through their emotions during this unprecedented time.

The Disaster Distress Helpline can be reached at 1-800-985-5990 or by texting TalkWithUs to 66746. Services are available in English, Spanish, and for those who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing. When connected with the Disaster Distress Helpline, you will be able to speak confidentially with a trained crisis counselor who can offer support in making referrals to local crisis centers and provide tips for healthy coping.
