Keeping your Dining Out Experience Safe

Did you know that before COVID19, restaurant employees already were trained on how to handle your food safely?

Every full-service restaurant that prepares food in Kendall County is required to have a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) on-duty at all times. A CFPM is required to have taken an 8 hour state approved food manager’s course that focuses on food safety procedures and prevention of foodborne illness. The course participants then must pass an American National Standards Institute approved test in order to become certified.

All other food handlers in these establishments are required to obtain a Food Handler Card, which entails a 2 hour state approved course in basic food safety training. This training is offered on-line from a variety of providers.

Kendall County Health Department offers the CFPM course 3 times per year for local restaurant owners and their employees. Just another way Kendall County Health Department helps to ensure the safety of county residents. For any questions about our CFPM course, please call (630)553-9100.
