Coronavirus Disease Update for Kendall County

April 22, 2020

The Kendall County Health Department (KCHD) is reporting new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID19), new recoveries, and we are saddened to report one death of a male in his 60s. We wish his family comfort and peace. As of today, our total cases are 171, we have 100 in-recovery and a total of 6 deaths.

Appreciating Earth Day 2020

There are many things we can do while social distancing to reduce our ecological footprint, combat climate change, and foster greater awareness and appreciation for our planet ― both on Earth Day and throughout the year. Below are a few tips to get started:

  • Plant/transplant a tree in your yard
  • Start composting in your home or yard
  • Cook plant-based or plant-centered meals
  • Pick up litter around your home/yard
  • Create a home recycling process
  • Watch nature documentaries like Planet Earth, March of the Penguins and Our Planet
  • Make art using recycled materials
  • Use energy efficient lightbulbs
  • Start growing your own herbs
  • Take shorter showers – and commit to doing this more often

While we may be acknowledging Earth Day differently this year, we encourage everyone to be proactive for all communities and our planet. Spend time with your family, work in your yard, go for a walk, and enjoy another Earth Day.
