It is so important for people of all ages and abilities to be physically active, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Being physically active does not necessarily mean playing in competitive sports. Dance, gardening, and some domestic work can be an important part of being physically active. Regular physical activity can contribute to healthy weight and overall wellbeing. Here are some positive ways to stay physically active:
- Exercise to music that inspires you
- Do gardening or lawn work
- Walk or jog around your neighborhood while staying 6 feet away from others
- Download a strength workout app to your smartphone
- Squats or sit-to-stands from a sturdy chair
- Play physically active games with your family
- Dance to your favorite music
- Perform yoga – deep breathing and mindfulness can also reduce anxiety
Make sure to move throughout the day. Consider replacing screen time with physical activity. Choosing healthy foods and being active is an important strategy that can boost your immune system.
